Stop Whinging Films is an independent production company making Indian stories for a global audience. We work with filmmakers whose voices come from specific places, languages and communities, and we build the partnerships that allow those films to travel well beyond the regions they were made in.
Collaboration across borders is the principle behind everything we do. Our films have brought together creative talent from India, France, the Philippines, Australia, Bangladesh and Spain. We believe the most distinctive stories are often the most local ones, and that the right collaborators can help them find an audience anywhere.
Over four features, our work has premiered at some of Asia's and Europe's leading festivals, including Busan, Locarno and Shanghai.
A Hindi-language feature that had its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival.
A Garo-language film that premiered in competition at Locarno in the Concorso Cineasti del presente. It went on to receive the APSA Cultural Diversity Award, the NETPAC Award at MAMI, the Special Jury Prize at Hainan and the National Award for Best Garo Film, and has been released theatrically in several territories, including France and India.
Received the award for Best Screenplay at the Shanghai International Film Festival.
Selected for the Busan International Film Festival.
We are developing a slate of new features that continue this approach, including projects designed as official co-productions between Australia and India. We welcome conversations with filmmakers, co-producers, sales agents and distributors who share our interest in bold, rooted cinema made for the world.
